I started my first official week as a Circuit Rider! The move from TX to CA was so much fun and the week just got better as the school started! The Lord is already wrecking my heart in a whole new way so here are some updates and things He has been speaking to me.
So update wise I am all moved in. I am living with 19 warrior women of God who are the sweetest. I started my classes and so in the mornings we have been going over Kingdom culture. The Lord has been really convicting me in areas of passivity and staying in the presence. During our track time, so for me messengers, we started learning about what preaching really meant. How every sermon and everything you talk about should go back to God. That may sound self-explanatory, but how many times have you been in a church service and the name of Jesus or God is not mentioned once. I also got to plan my first sermon which I did over justification and righteousness. I will probably write that sermon up in a different post.
So some of the things the Lord has speaking to me in prayer time is the need to be in the word and to spend more time in solitude with him. There is a difference between solitude and isolation. Isolation is something you should not do. It says that you don't need anyone else and that any kind of dependency is bad. Solitude is intentional time with just you and Jesus. A time where you can be deepened in your relationship with him and the understanding of his word. Solitude with the Lord helps you to be in community in a healthier way. If you are anything like me it helps you to not put community or ministry over God. When I don't take time for solitude I tend to have more adoration toward people than God.
The last thing that got me today during our Sunday service was really concerning this verse: "If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames." 1 Corinthians 3:15. This verse speaks to the way you live your life and what it builds in heaven. The things you did for the kingdom are like gold and costly stone able to withstand, while things that have no eternal value are like hay or wood consumed. When you get before the Lord you don't want all of your life to be consumed in the flames. I have a fresh desire to not waste my life. I don't want to just not sin but I want to live for things that matter in eternity. I want to be able to stand before the Lord and have a life that was an all out pursuit of Jesus.
Guys the Lord died because he desired us and says we are the joy of his heart. He wants so much to be in relationship with you. A relationship is a daily interactive relationship where you learn more about each other. That you don't just say yes to him then ignore him for the next 5 years. If someone gets me coffee I wanna honor them and get to know them. The creator of the universe gave his life. Let us not jut give him a nod and keep going. We get to give him our commitment and with his help change to become more like him.
"It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." Romans 3:26
